About Us

Little Science Books aims to publish high quality books for curious children and budding scientists.

We strive to not only give our readers accurate science content, but insights into the nature and process of science. We wish to approach our books from the perspective of science as a human endeavor and a search for answers to questions.

We want to answer questions that children have, in clear language and illustrated by stunning photographs, realizing that this knowledge will lead to further inquiry.

Dr. Helen Pashley has a doctorate in Zoology from the University of Cambridge. She is also a permanently certified teacher in both the US and UK. In 1992, she started Science Enrichment Workshops, an educational consulting business, bringing science to elementary classrooms in Westchester. This business continues to thrive and has the added advantage of keeping her in contact with kids in the classroom. In addition, she does curriculum writing and professional development, predominantly for Science 21 (Through Putnam/Northern Westchester BOCES) which now serves 55 districts and 176 schools. She also works with some other districts, Eastchester, Mahopac, Byram Hills in New York and Millburn Township, New Jersey.

She enjoys keeping unusual pets.

Lori Adams has been fascinated with cameras for decades. Her educational background includes a B.A. from Bard College, where she studied photography, an A.A. in Mathematics from Dutchess Community College and graduate studies in imaging science from Rochester Institute of Technology. Commercial photography, portrait and event photography and personal work keep her in close contact with her cameras. Her studio is located in East Fishkill in the beautiful Hudson Valley. Lori teaches photography workshops as well as college level credit courses at Dutchess Community College in Poughkeepsie, New York. She is continuously thrilled to photograph all kinds of living and non-living things.

Helen met Lori at a school workshop where she was a helping parent. They have since collaborated to produce a series of 17 popular little books for grades K-3 for P/NW BOCES. These books are included in science kits and additionally sell 1000 copies a year. They have received very positive feedback from teachers for these books. In 2008 they decided branch out on their own forming Little Science Books.
